About Me

My name is Ian Andrew Campbell and I originally come from Scotland; I’m an enthusiastic fly fisherman who loves all aspects of the sport, including the opportunity to spend time outdoors.  Having  relocated to Normandy in Northern France, I’ll be posting info and pictures of the various fishing trips that I have planned for this coming season’s fishing. I’ll also tell you about the flies and techniques that I use. Whether I use either with any success we’ll have to wait and see……….

Hi Ian, I read with anticipation. Keep the diary going. Take Care Pamela

  5. Hey Ian, loved the blog, very insightful. It makes you appreciate the rivers in Scotland that little bit more. I enjoyed fly fishing with you In Carradale, hope you’re doing well, and keep up the good work!

  6. Hi Ian. What do you think of Berville-sur-Mare now the sun has stopped shining? All those moody misty mornings on the banks of the Seine and the largest mosquitos I’ve even seen. If you go down the lane and turn left when you reach the river there are loads of blackberry bushes which were loaded with fruit. Have a great year ahead.

  7. Hi Andrew –
I’m a Fly Fisher, just moved to London and am looking forward to this summer, hitting the streams around the U.K. I stumbled across your site as I was doing research on where to go fly-fishing.

I have a topic that might be of particular interest to you.

One of my good friends is putting together a film project on a 90 year old World War II Veteran going back to fly fish the rivers he saw in Normandy, France as a soldier. I think it would be very relevant project that you might be able to help us spread the word about or help support the project otherwise, if you would be so kind. Please check out the trailer—it’s two minutes and it pulls at the heart strings. Would be amazing to get this done.

Happy fishing and thanks for your consideration!

    • Hi David, thanks for the link, the film does indeed tug at the heartstrings. I really hope your friend can achieve his goal and bring Frank back to Normandy to fish. I’ll post a link to the film on the blog. Hope you have a great season’s fly fishing.
      Regards
      Ian

  8. Hi there, I am visiting Gavray between 16th and 21st May. Would you be able to suggest some trout fishing in the area? Many thanks, James

    • Hi James, the following two locations should be of interest to you, La Sienne at the village of Ver and L”Etang de Montaigu. Both are about 10 minutes drive from Gavray town centre. Permits are available from the newsagents in Gavray. Hope this is useful and tight lines!
